In memory of the 13 colonies that we lost in 1776, I give you an English Rose.
The King at the time George III wrote in his diary “Nothing of importance occurred today” …hmmm really?!
Happy Independence Day all my American friends!
To celebrate, today I watched Independence Day and Captain America again.

It's been years since I've watched Independence Day. Does it still hold up or does it look awful now?
Nice thought. excellent
Thanks for the English Rose and for those 13 colonies
+Gary Stewart It has its dodgy moments, but I put on my rose tinted glasses and imagine its 1996 again
Ah, 1996, the year when Apple included drivers for communicating with alien ships. Good times.
The funny thing is that we are all taling about 1996, and alot of people online now weren't even born then. I dont even think Mark Zuckerberg was born then was he. lol
He was born in 1984 apparently (which is a sort of terrifying year for a person who runs a company that gathers large amounts of personal data to be born in). I did go see Independence Day at the cinema and was old enough to do so though.
I agree seems so strange that people still think the internet or to be correct the "worldwide web" is a new thing.
Yeah I saw it at the cinema, had just finished my stint at University, and had my 1st PC for only a few months.. Scary!
Ok is is just me that feels old now.
+Sean J Connolly well its 12 years since the dot com bubble burst, so you're right its not a new thing by any means! The internet is just more ingrained in our lives now.
Totally agree, seems that I cant live without it. Remember couple of months ago the power went off and I was like, I cant go online. NOOOOO!! So yep is plays a huge part in my life, sad as that sounds.
At least with smartphones being around as long as you can still get mobile access (assuming that isn't knocked down by a power cut too) then you can still get a fix
.
Yeah I remember the same happening here, I used the very slow mobile internet on the phone until the power to the mast ran out of juice too. After that I didn't know what to do with myself! lol
That would be lovely, but and here is the funny bit. I don't get mobile reception at home and have to use the Orange UMA service over my broadband, so when the power went off I felt like I was totally stranded.
Really beautiful picture +Andy Gray !! And great choice of movies!!
Thank you so much and it is just lovely Andy!
